Our tour guide was fantastic. He gave us so much knowledge on our surroundings while entering and exiting central London that we would not have had otherwise! He was kind and guided us every step of the way. Great sense of humor and on our travel back, he knew to road and traffic expectations so well that he already planned an alternate route to get us back to central London as scheduled. Any other way probably would have added a whole nother hour to return but he made the travel seamless. We even arrived early to Stonehenge! Amazing experience.

# An unforgettable day trip with Chrissy & “Stan the Man”! We joined the full-day Windsor Castle, Stonehenge & Roman Bath tour from London, and it was absolutely fantastic! The meeting point is inside Victoria Coach Station — not outside on the corner as shown on the picture you receive beforehand — so make sure to go inside the building to check in. Our wonderful tour guide was Chrissy, and our driver was the legendary “Stan the Man.” From start to finish, Chrissy made the whole experience truly special. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and has a wonderful storytelling voice. Throughout the journey, she shared tons of fun side facts, interesting history, and added just the right touch of humor that kept everyone engaged and entertained. The tour was very well organized — all entrance fees were included, which made everything super convenient. We visited Windsor Castle first, then Stonehenge, and finally the Roman Baths. Do keep in mind that at each stop, you don’t have a huge amount of time to explore every detail in depth — but that’s completely understandable, as it’s a full-day tour covering several major highlights. We found the time at each location to be just right for getting a great overview. A small tip: bring some snacks or lunch with you, since there isn’t much time for proper meal stops. You’re allowed to eat and drink on the bus (just no hot drinks or warm/strong-smelling food). All in all, it was a wonderful and memorable experience. A huge thank you to Chrissy and Stan the Man for making the day so enjoyable! We would absolutely book another tour with Evan Evans again anytime.

Pretty good deal. The app is straightforward but can be a bit slow when crowded. Would use again for a quick city break.

Took the kids for a weekend in London. The pass made it so much easier to get around and see everything we wanted. Hop-on bus was a HIT with the little ones.

We left a little late, which worried us at first, as it was specified that we should arrive on time. Despite this, the places we visited were incredible! Our favorite was Windsor Castle! We were convinced that the tour was in French... Very friendly guide!

Professional guided tours

All tours come with knowledgeable guides who provide rich historical context, local legends, and detailed explanations of the significance of the site. This enhances the experience, allowing you to appreciate the site more deeply than you might if you visited independently.

Hassle-free experience

By booking a tour, you avoid the complexities of arranging transportation, buying tickets, and figuring out logistics on your own. Tours provide priority access to Stonehenge, so you don’t have to wait in long lines, maximizing your time at the site.

Affordable and time-efficient

Given the distances and the time required to visit, a guided tour often ends up being a more affordable and time-efficient option compared to visiting independently. You can enjoy the convenience of a well-organized day without the added costs of car rentals or multiple transport tickets.

Beautiful countryside views

The journey itself offers gorgeous views of the English countryside, with rolling green hills and quaint villages along the way. For many travelers, this adds to the charm of the experience.

Ticket options for London to Stonehenge tours

  • To visit Stonehenge, you can either book standard entry tickets, tickets with transfers from London, or day trips from London to Stonehenge and other historical towns.
  • The Stonehenge audio guide is available in English, Mandarin, German, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, French, Russian, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, and Ukrainian and is available with all the ticket options.
  • A day trip from London to Stonehenge roughly takes about 6 hours. However, it can take up to 11 hours if you choose a combo day trip that visits other historic towns and attractions.
  • Please note that you cannot touch the stones. While the Inner Circle tour will allow you to go closer to the sarsen monoliths, you are still required to maintain a minimum of 10 meters from the stones to preserve this heritage monument.
  • English Heritage and National Trust England members can enter Stonehenge for free. However, you are still required to book a timeslot before you visit.
  • If you do plan to visit Windsor Castle on your London to Stonehenge tour, make sure you avoid booking on Tuesday and Wednesday as the castle is closed. Please note that since Windsor Castle is still a functioning castle, it may close unexpectedly. St George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays, but you can still attend a service. Also, the Semi-State Rooms are only open from autumn to spring, so plan your visit during these months if you want to see these rooms.
  • The cancellation policy of your tickets may vary. Please check the policy before booking, especially if you think your plans may change at the last moment.

Best time to take a London to Stonehenge tour

Best time of the year

The best months to visit are usually April through September, but the weather is never guaranteed. During July and August the chance of warm weather is highest, but it is also the busiest period. If you visit during these months, try to go early in the morning or later in the day to avoid the crowds. Stonehenge is also open for extended hours during the peak season, allowing you plenty of time to explore the monument. Winter (October to February) can also be a good time to visit because there are fewer crowds. October and November are the wettest months. These are also the best time to plan a budget-friendly trip as travel costs and accommodation fees are lower during the low season.

Best time of the week

Stonehenge is usually less busy during the week, especially Mondays through Thursdays. It's busier on Fridays and Saturdays and during school holidays. The quietest times to visit are before 11am and after 2pm. The number of visitors increases after 11am, and by mid-afternoon, the site can be very crowded.

Special events

If you want a truly unique experience, visit during the solstices, usually around June 21 (summer solstice) or December 22 (winter solstice). During these events, you can see the sun's rays emerge in between the Heel Stones and cast light right in the center of the Inner Circle.

Tips to make the most of your London to Stonehenge tour

  • Consider if you only want to visit Stonehenge or would like to explore further and see cities like Windsor, Bath, or Oxford. The latter option can be rushed, especially if you choose multiple towns. For attractions that require entry tickets, including Windsor Castle, Avebury Stone Circle, and the Roman Baths, buy them in advance online to avoid long lines.
  • Ensure your tour includes entry tickets to Stonehenge, as some may only cover transportation. If they do not include entry, upgrade your tickets.
  • While all tours include multilingual audio guides, some may have a live guide. If you prefer a more personal narrative, look for tours with an expert guide.
  • Check if your tour includes a visit to the Stonehenge Visitor Centre and transport between the Visitor Centre and the Stones. The shuttle service is often reserved for those with mobility issues, the elderly, or visitors with small children. Wear comfortable shoes to walk the 1.5-mile distance if you are not boarding the shuttle bus.
  • Have a look at the weather forecast for the day to dress appropriately and pack essentials like sunscreen or umbrellas. It’s best to dress in layers as the weather can be unpredictable.
  • Decide on the best mode of transportation beforehand, considering factors like cost, travel time, and convenience, if you are not booking a round-trip tour. If using public transport, check the schedules and book in advance if possible.
  • Most tours do not include food, so consider bringing snacks and water, especially for the drive from London (around 2 hours each way). There is a café at the Stonehenge Visitor Centre if you prefer to buy food there and some coaches stop at local pubs and restaurants for lunch.
  • Be mindful of the time allotted at each stop. Stonehenge visits usually last about 1.5–2 hours, so don’t spend too much time at the Visitor Centre if you want to maximize your time near the stones.
  • If you're into photography, ask your guide if you can catch the sunrise or sunset, as Stonehenge can be stunning during these times.
  • There are restrooms at the Visitor Centre, but not at the stone circle. Be sure to use them before heading to the stones.
