Today I ticked a true bucket-list moment off my list with a visit to Stonehenge. The day itself felt quintessentially English—cool, crisp, with that gentle mist of rain that somehow makes everything more atmospheric rather than less. It only added to the magic of standing among something so ancient and quietly powerful. I booked through Headout, and honestly, it couldn’t have been easier. No unnecessary fluff or drawn-out commentary—just a straightforward coach trip that got us there comfortably and gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want… just take me there and let me experience it. A simple, seamless day—and one I won’t forget anytime soon.

Loved it! The staff was super kind and they also gave us snacks for the trip. Just be careful about the pickup destination that varies in the morning and in the afternoon!🥰

It's an ambitious tour because you visit three places in one day. That gives you the opportunity to see a lot in a short time, but the visits are very short and you're left wanting more. We also spend quite a bit of time on the bus, so you have to be mentally prepared for that. The destinations are wonderful, it's worth it!

# An unforgettable day trip with Chrissy & “Stan the Man”! We joined the full-day Windsor Castle, Stonehenge & Roman Bath tour from London, and it was absolutely fantastic! The meeting point is inside Victoria Coach Station — not outside on the corner as shown on the picture you receive beforehand — so make sure to go inside the building to check in. Our wonderful tour guide was Chrissy, and our driver was the legendary “Stan the Man.” From start to finish, Chrissy made the whole experience truly special. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and has a wonderful storytelling voice. Throughout the journey, she shared tons of fun side facts, interesting history, and added just the right touch of humor that kept everyone engaged and entertained. The tour was very well organized — all entrance fees were included, which made everything super convenient. We visited Windsor Castle first, then Stonehenge, and finally the Roman Baths. Do keep in mind that at each stop, you don’t have a huge amount of time to explore every detail in depth — but that’s completely understandable, as it’s a full-day tour covering several major highlights. We found the time at each location to be just right for getting a great overview. A small tip: bring some snacks or lunch with you, since there isn’t much time for proper meal stops. You’re allowed to eat and drink on the bus (just no hot drinks or warm/strong-smelling food). All in all, it was a wonderful and memorable experience. A huge thank you to Chrissy and Stan the Man for making the day so enjoyable! We would absolutely book another tour with Evan Evans again anytime.

Stone Circle

Walk the marked path that loops around the famous ring of sarsen and bluestone pillars standing on Salisbury Plain. From about ten metres away you can clearly see the towering trilithons, the horizontal lintels, and the open grassland stretching around the monument.

Stonehenge visitor centre

Inside the visitor centre, exhibition rooms display more than 250 artefacts discovered around the monument. Flint tools, pottery fragments, jewellery, and human remains help explain how Neolithic communities lived and how the monument gradually took shape.

Neolithic houses

Near the visitor centre stand reconstructed Neolithic houses built using materials archaeologists believe were used 4,500 years ago. Step inside to see chalk walls, thatched roofs, central hearths, and simple sleeping areas that illustrate daily life.

Bath Abbey exterior

In the centre of Bath rises Bath Abbey, its tall Gothic windows and carved stone façade overlooking a lively square. Look up to see detailed sculptures and angels climbing ladders along the building’s historic west front

The Roman Baths complex

At the Roman Baths site you can look across the steaming Great Bath, a large pool surrounded by stone columns and ancient pavements. The water still rises from the natural hot spring that drew Roman settlers here nearly two thousand years ago.

The Royal Crescent

Walk past the sweeping curve of the Royal Crescent, a row of thirty elegant Georgian townhouses built from Bath’s pale limestone. The wide green lawn in front frames the building’s uniform columns and long terrace.

The Circus

A short walk from the Royal Crescent stands The Circus, a circular arrangement of Georgian houses forming a grand stone ring. Three curved streets meet here, creating one of Bath’s most distinctive architectural spaces.

Pulteney Bridge views

Cross Pulteney Bridge, one of the few historic bridges lined with shops on both sides. From the centre, look down at the River Avon cascading over the small weir below.

Parade Gardens riverfront

Near Pulteney Bridge, Parade Gardens sits beside the River Avon with manicured lawns and flowerbeds overlooking the water. From here you get peaceful views of the bridge arches and passing boats.

Bath city centre streets

Wander through Bath’s compact historic centre where narrow lanes open onto small squares filled with cafés, bookshops, and independent boutiques. Honey coloured stone buildings line nearly every street.

Visitor tips

  • Prioritise Stonehenge photos: Take your main photos at Stonehenge early in your visit. Coaches often arrive in clusters, and the viewing path becomes noticeably busier within twenty to thirty minutes.
  • Skip café queues first: Avoid heading straight to the Stonehenge café on arrival. Visit the stone circle first while crowds are thinner, then stop at the café before returning to the coach.
  • Use the Stonehenge shuttle: If your schedule feels tight, take the shuttle from the visitor centre to the monument instead of walking. It saves about twenty minutes round trip.
  • Head straight to Roman Baths: In Bath, go directly to the Roman Baths if you plan to enter. Queues grow quickly during the day and can easily consume most of your free time.
  • Royal Crescent quick detour: If time allows, a taxi from central Bath to the Royal Crescent takes about five minutes, letting you see the landmark without a long uphill walk.
  • Find the Bath skyline: Walk to the small terrace near Bath Abbey’s west front for a clear view of the surrounding Georgian rooftops. It is one of the easiest city viewpoints.
  • Pack water and snack: The tour day runs several hours with limited stops. Carrying water and a small snack helps avoid relying on busy cafés during short free time windows.
  • Keep a small time buffer: Return to the coach meeting point at least ten minutes early. Bath’s centre can be busy with pedestrians, and finding the exact pickup spot sometimes takes longer.
  • Check Roman Baths closing: If you plan to visit the Roman Baths, check their closing time before the tour. Evening closures occasionally change and may affect how much time you get inside.
