Fantastic half day experience. Our trip to see Stonehenge was amazing- we had wanted to see the stones for a long time and we were not disappointed. The coach was comfortable and our driver was kind and knowledgeable. We were given a little food package (cheese & pickle roll, flapjack, packet of crisps and a bottle of water) as we boarded the coach which we hadn't been expecting but was very welcome. We had a good amount of time at Stonehenge and were back in London mid afternoon in time to explore Covent Garden. Definitely recommended.

The site is well maintained and organized to allow many people without feeling overly crowded. The Audio tour provided with our tour was wonderful. We enjoyed a little picnic on the grounds after. The title of half- day trip was misleading. It was a full day with traffic. 2.5 hours to get there. 2 hours there (perfect amount of time). 2.75 hours to get back. We had dinner plans for the evening that we had to cancel. Maybe a warning for busy traffic times of the year would be good.

Beautiful experience, magical and surreal. We arrived by bus traveled one km and arrived at the stones. We downloaded the audio guide and listened to the explanations took photos, time to take the shuttle back buy souvenirs and return to the bus. The driver very nice. We were given a sort of packed lunch which was very welcome.

Aware that the visit was for the sole purpose of seeing this site live , I found the trip enjoyable. The time for the visit just right, the opportunity to have a picnic on the lawns around stonhenge with the swag bag offered by the tour company was something unexpected and much appreciated. Great as a defaticating day after visiting London for days.

No enough time at site. Thought we were going to have until 130. Told be back at bus by 1250. No time before leaving to get something to eat. Felt rushed. Driver drove through two red lights on way there.

The sights were spectacular. I bought my ticket from the app, which did not make it clear that I had to buy another ticket to tour the Roman Baths, so all I did was walk around and admire the architecture of that pretty little city. More time needs to be given to the visit at Windsor Castle because I only had time to see two things: the chapel and Queen Mary's apartment.

The sites we visited were remarkable, but we didn't have enough time to enjoy them all. At Windsor Castle, we could only see the apartments and didn't have enough time to visit the dolls' house, as there were far too many people queuing up and we only had 1 hour's time on site. For stonehenge we only had an hour's stop: 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back on foot, i.e. 2 minutes and 30 seconds to admire the site. Visits to Bath, a charming city, but we ended up paying £60 for 2 even though I had already booked our tickets for the Roman baths when we booked the excursion. What's more, there was no time to take the time to eat. It would have been more correct to say that we would have taken a picnic when booking the ticket. And the audioguide could not be used in French.

The tour itself was great. But the instructions for the start were confusing. It said meet at the welcome desk if the Victoria Coach Station. There is no welcome desk! It said it was by gate 1. But there was no desk at all. We got confused and waited at a labelled gate, nearly missed our tour. We apparently had to approach someone working at Gate 1. Not exactly a desk.

Seeing Stonehenge and Windsor Castle. The Leslie our guide did a great job and is very knowledgeable presenting the information very well. Jody drove safely. Unfortunately, the trip was too compressed so we had to rush through many areas. I would have liked an extra hour at both Stonehenge and Windsor Castle and gotten home two hours later.

Had a great experience in general. Our tour guide and driver were pleasant, knowledgeable and communicated well. Our main issue was with the instructions. When you have directions that show a picture of the front of the station and say meet here, that is where we stayed. We were not the only travelers that made that mistake. Can you just add enter here at that corner of the station and find your gate or such? We thought someone would come out and get us and line us up in one of the buses outside. Again one of your very helpful employees flagged the bus down at a stop light and we were able to get on board. Tragedy averted.

A packed day out, starting on time and well organized from Victoria Coach Station. Richard scored with charm, wit and excellent knowledge. All in all - two of the three destinations would be completely sufficient, as otherwise it would be very stressful and there would be hardly any time to take a closer look at one or the other (e.g. @ Windsor - State Apartments and Cape Town). @ Windsor - the state apartments and the chapel can hardly be visited in the short time available - it's more like running through).

The information about the boarding point was insufficient, by the time I got there the bus had already left, so I ended up going only to Stonehenge and with a guide who spoke only English. The ticket also didn't make it clear which company was responsible for the transfer.

Good morning, I bought a tour to Stonehenge, Windsor and Oxford. I followed everything that was written in the app and arrived at the meeting point at 7:45 am (I even took a picture of the clock marking that time). However, the meeting point described in the app was not correct and I missed the tour. I therefore request a refund of the amount paid, as I arrived on time, but the meeting point was not the one indicated in the app. Other people also missed the tour.

Liked Stonehenge because we had time to circle the stones and not worry the coach would leave without us. No time to visit shop😢 The rest of the tour was very challenging. She walked so fast we couldn't keep up if we were delayed by foot or car traffic. Felt so rushed to get back to coach on time didn't really see Windsor castle Missed the Oxford tour as we could see the guide or hear her after we were delayed by traffic. Overall the tour was most unsatisfactory . The itinerary didn't include note about running to keep up. Sorry can t not recommend your services

Comfortable bus. Driver Patrick and guide Chrissie friendly and Chrissie knew a lot about all the sights. Everything was well organized. Despite not being able to go to Oxford due to a blowout on the highway. Fortunately Patrick was able to stop the bus on an emergency lane. Waiting for new transportation took time and it was too late to go to Oxford. Even so, we were still on the road for 11 hours. We were to receive a refund from the bus company. This was also arranged the same day. Too bad v Oxford, can happen and handled well and quickly.

Ana the tour guide and Gary the bus driver were great. Gary kept us all on time to the different location. Ana's wealth of historical information made the trip exciting. Ana spoke both in Spanish and English to keep the participants engaged throughout the day. Ana added in humor and made us laugh. She is a gem. I would certainly go on another tour with Anna and Gary!

It was a very good experience, the transportation was excellent. Robert was an excellent guide, very cordial, even told us during the trip a lot of information about the places we were passing through, all very well organized and synchronized. It would have been nice to spend more time in Windsor because it is worth it, but it is understandable that the times are according to the development of the day, I recommend it!

Day trips to Stonehenge | 5,000-year-old stone circle

Enter the ancient world of Stonehenge, a prehistoric monument standing on the vast Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. Dating back 5,000 years, Stonehenge is composed of colossal standing stones arranged in concentric circles. As the sun casts shadows on these weathered stones, one wonders why this structure was created in the first place. Set out on a journey through Stonehenge's history and learn everything you need to know while visiting Stonehenge!

Why visit Stonehenge

stonehenge tickets
  • Marvel at prehistoric engineering: See the incredible feat of transporting and arranging 25-ton stones over 4,000 years ago without modern tools. You can even book an Inner Circle tour at sunrise or sunset for an exclusive view. Learn about the burial mounds and ceremonial sites surrounding the monument, revealing insights into early life and rituals.
  • Learn about ancient astronomy: Find out how the site aligns with the solstices, showcasing early humans' mastery of the stars and seasons. You can even feel the spiritual and enigmatic atmosphere that has captivated people for millennia.
  • Iconic world heritage site: Stand at a location recognized globally for its historical and cultural significance, preserved to appreciate for generations to come. You can even walk along the well-preserved Neolithic trails that connect Stonehenge to nearby landmarks like Woodhenge and Durrington Walls.

Things to know before you book your Stonehenge tickets

  • Situated 140 km to the west of London, Stonehenge is a two-hour drive. Stonehenge has limited walk-in tickets available to purchase onsite, but it is recommended that you book in advance to guarantee your visit. This will also let you skip the ticket queue.
  • Stonehenge tickets often include audio guides in multiple languages, including English, Mandarin, German, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, French, Russian, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, and Ukrainian, so you can learn about its history and the myths surrounding this ancient structure.
  • Given Stonehenge’s historical and archaeological importance and how shrouded in mystery it is, we highly suggest going on a guided tour that will be led by expert historians and guides for a more insightful and engaging experience. A well-organized guided tour ensures you see the best of Stonehenge efficiently, without missing key details or wasting time navigating logistics.
  • You even have the option of going on exclusive guided tours that grant you access to the Inner Circle of the monument and see the Sarsen monoliths up close, up to 10m. You aren’t allowed to touch the stones in order to preserve the monument. Given their exclusive access, it is slightly more expensive but worth the price tag. The Stonehenge inner circles are not accessible in October and November so plan your day trip accordingly.
  • Members of English Heritage and National Trust England can enjoy free entry to Stonehenge, but advanced booking is still required.
  • If you are traveling from London, consider booking an organized day tour. Not only will your transfers be taken care of, but you will also learn more from an English-speaking guide. These AC coaches are equipped with Wi-Fi and multilingual audio guides. These day tours are usually six hours long and will pick you up and drop you off at convenient locations throughout London as mentioned on your ticket. Most coaches start and end at Victoria Station, but some coaches also offer hotel pickups.
  • The southwest of England is home to many popular historic towns that you can consider visiting. Most day trips to Stonehenge also include visits to the towns of Windsor, Bath, and Oxford. They also include an English-speaking guide and multilingual audio guides. These tours offer AC coaches with Wi-Fi and round-trip transfers. They are slightly longer, sometimes up to 11 hours, but you get to see much more. In addition to the day tours, you can also upgrade your tickets to get access to popular landmarks like Windsor Castle, the Roman Baths, and the Avebury Stone Circle.
  • Please note that your Stonehenge tickets are valid only for the date and time selected during checkout. Ensure you reach the venue at least 10 minutes before your scheduled visit time.

Tips and guidelines for your Stonehenge tour

  • For a quieter experience, consider visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon, especially in the off-season. Some tours offer special sunrise or sunset visits that give you private access to the stone circle.
  • Early mornings offer fewer crowds and a serene atmosphere, while sunsets can provide dramatic lighting and photo opportunities. For the best pictures, get close to the 10-meter perimeter of the stones.
  • Make sure to arrive early to secure a parking spot during peak hours.
  • As the site is open to the elements, it's recommended to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Windproof and waterproof jackets are useful, especially since the area is often windy and prone to rain.
  • Carry a winter jacket and an umbrella if you are driving to Stonehenge. Expect at least a 4-5 mile walk before you reach Stonehenge as you may get parking far away.
  • Stonehenge day trips are also great for a fun family outing for kids. However, make sure that they do not touch the ancient stones.
  • Although there are dining outlets on site, queues can be long so bring a quick bite.
